TSB, as the operator of public lighting in the Statutory City of Brno, is responsible not only for its smooth operation, but also for the safe condition of public lighting poles of various constructions and ages.

The condition of lighting poles does not depend only on their age, but there are many other factors that influence their lifetime. The poles are subjected to daily stresses. From a seemingly innocuous visit of a  dog relieving itself through ever-changing weather conditions to often trivial traffic accidents that seemingly leave no visible signs of damage. A damaged pole can then cause further damage to property and also endanger people’s health and lives.

Public lighting is one of the most important services to the population. As an important part of the environment, it contributes to the safety of people, road traffic, as well as the protection of public and private property. Properly maintained and well-constructed public ceremonial lighting allows residents and visitors to navigate the city and enhances the architectural values that are the city’s assets.

To check the safety of the public lighting poles, TSB has chosen an innovative, certified measuring device from MASTAP GmbH, which offers fast, wireless measurement with clear and immediately accessible, yet long-term storable results using a non-destructive method. In addition to a significant increase in safety, TSB has gained a tool for maximally efficient planning of the renewal of the distribution network for public lighting in the city of Brno.
